RODNEY EARL JACKSON JR.
Artistic Director & Co-Founder

  • Rodney Earl Jackson Jr. (he/him) is the Artistic Director & Co-Founder of SFBATCO. He made his Broadway debut in “The Book of Mormon” and was last seen at American Conservatory Theatre & Arena Stage in the co-produced production of “Toni Stone”. Prior to that he traveled North America in the first national tour of “Motown: The Musical.”

    A San Francisco native who built his love and foundation for art and theatre in public city organizations such as SFartsEd, San Francisco Recreation and Park’s Young People’s Teen Musical Theater Company, and the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts’ where he graduated from the theatre department. He holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama.

CLAUDIO ANDRES SILVA RESTREPO
Technical Director

  • Claudio Andres Silva Restrepo (he/him) is the Technical Director at SFBATCO. He is a Theater Artist from Santiago Chile. He studied at Loyola University Maryland. While at Loyola, Claudio won numerous honors for Acting, Design, and Direction. He also wrote and staged a reading of an original play on euthanasia and the beginning/ end of life. He spent three years teaching and working at StarStruck Theatre & Academy in Stuart, FL before moving to San Francisco. Moving to the Bay Area in 2017 Claudio has become Technical Director/ Production Manager for SFBATCO (San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Company), As an Independent Design Artist and Technician he works with many professional companies like Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, Those Women Productions, 42nd Street Moon, Brava For Women in the Arts, with specific care to create works that represent the diverse community of the Bay Area and addressing social issues relevant to his community. He also works as a designer and educator with children companies like SF Arts Education Project, Throckmorton Theatre, Young People’s Teen Musical Theatre Company, and other Educational Programs. During the Summer of 2020 Claudio had the opportunity to Join the JCHS community as their new Theatre Technical Director.     WHY DO YOU WORK WITH SFBATCO? It is the place I was accepted as a newcomer in the bay. Its people are my people and my family on this side of the world. It is the only theatre space I've worked in that is truly DIVERSE.

ADAM MAGGIO
Managing Director

  • Adam Maggio (he/him) is the Managing Director at SFBATCO. He was born and raised in San Francisco, where he attended Rooftop Alternative and Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts. Adam grew up performing with SFArtsEd under Emily Keeler and Danny Duncan, where he met Rodney and Marcelo. Adam has performed Off-Broadway and regionally across the country; he has directed both original and established works; and he has served as an Associate Producer with Mile Square Theatre and En Garde Arts. Adam is currently pursuing his Master's of Fine Arts in Theatre Management and Producing from Columbia University, expected May 2022. He is thrilled to be back home and working to enrich the dynamic theatre community in the Bay Area.

    Oh man, this has changed a lot through the years. Used to be Cancun but spending so much time at Brava has Taqueria SF coming for that one spot. Special shoutout Taqueria Vallarta (but that's for tacos).
    FAVORITE SF STAPLE: Watching my out of town friends see the top of Twin Peaks for the first time. Shoutout also the arboretum, Giants games, and Tap Takeover (now an SF staple).
    WHY DO YOU WORK WITH SFBATCO? I work for SFBATCO because it is an organization that lives its values and never compromises its mission. Rod and Marce are okay too.

PHAEDRA TILLERY-BOUGHTON
Associate Producer

  • Phaedra Tillery Boughton (she/her) is the Associate Producer at SFBATCO and a 2022-2023 Theatre Bay Area Arts Leadership Residency Recipient. She is an actor, director, playwright, casting associate, and arts advocate. She has worked with Hillbarn Theater on Clybourne Park (Director); Ain't Misbehavin’ (Armelia McQueen/Assistant Director); 1940s Radio Hour (Geneva); The Color Purple; and To Kill a Mockingbird. Other credits: Caroline or Change and Little Shop of Horrors (Ray Of Light Theatre); Newsies (Woodminster); Tarzan (PAP), and Avenue Q (NCTC). IG: @phaedratboughton

CHRISTINE CHUNG
Director of Operations & Design

  • Christine Chung (she/they) is the Director of Operations & Design at SFBATCO. Christine works in a variety of creative spaces focused on breaking barriers to access, exposure, and sustainability in the arts and storytelling landscapes. She focuses her work in non-profit theatre & performing arts, documentary short films, film festivals, and experiential immersive design. Her recent affiliations include Field of Vision, IF/Then Shorts, SXSW, SFFILM, Revolutionary Love Project, and African Voices. She received a 2019 Theatre Bay Area Award for Outstanding Choreography for SFBATCO's flagship show "I, Too, Sing America".

    WHY DO YOU WORK WITH SFBATCO SFBATCO is the first place that validated me as an artist, performer, and choreographer on a professional level. SFBATCO is a company that walks the walk. I am blown away every day by the heart and talent of this team and community.

VANESSA LOUIS-JEAN
Marketing Associate

  • Vanessa Louis-Jean (she/they) is the Marketing Associate for SFBATCO. While she is originally from South Carolina, she currently resides in San Francisco finishing her degree in International Business at the University of San Francisco. At a young age, Vanessa found herself connected to working for mission-driven companies and initiatives. She loves finding innovative ways that will positively impact the future. With past experiences working on creative mission driven projects, she believes that artistic mediums have the power to cultivate the change we are looking to see in our world. By being at SFBATCO, she is able to combine her passions of community organizing and entertainment to create digital marketing assets for the people to be seen, heard, and understood and represent SFBATCO's mission.

AIDAA PEERZADA
Literary & Outreach Manager

  • Aidaa Peerzada (she/her) is the Literary & Outreach Manager at SFBATCO. She is an actor and writer who grew up between the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland and Lahore, Pakistan. She is currently a recipient of the Theatre Bay Area’s Director’s Residency and is SFBATCO’s Artistic Development Director. Aidaa studied at the Baltimore School for the Arts and went on to receive her BFA in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University.She debuted her voice as a writer in CMU’s "Playground" Festival with her play “Scheherazade” which went on to the NYC Fringe Festival. Workshops of her original plays include: One Googol and One (SFBATCO), Grandma Science,(The Greenhouse Theatre Solo Lab), Shining, (The Ground and Field Theatre Festival at UC: Davis.) She is currently co-writing the book of an original musical Sunflowered, in development with Northern Sky Theatre. Regional performance credits include: The Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Steppenwolf Theatre Co, American Players Theatre, Theatre Lila and Quantum Theatre. Her on-camera credits include the HBO series Girls, the web series Blank My Life, as well as the independent films Gorenos, and Stay Home.

ALEX JONES
General Manager

  • Alex Jones (he/him) is the General Manager at SFBATCO. Alex is a Juilliard dance graduate and was a visiting scholar at Stanford Center for Design Research. He led innovation efforts at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts as their Experience Design Specialist and led programmatic efforts in creativity and innovation at San Francisco Unified School District and SF’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development. He is a trustee at the African American Shakespeare Company, a graduate of the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in SF, and has worked professionally as a dancer, actor, and composer.

San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Company was officially incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit in September 2014 by Rodney Earl Jackson Jr. and Marcelo Javier, two performing artists who grew up together in San Francisco. Read about the history and mission behind SFBATCO here.

  • Marcelo Javier (he/him) co-founded the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Company (SFBATCO) in 2014. During the pandemic he was seen weekly on SFBATCO’s virtual variety hour Live with Rod & Marce on twitch.tv/SFBATCO.
