A Note from Rodney & Marcelo on the Impact of COVID-19

Dear SFBATCO Community,

We hope this finds you all healthy and safe.

On top of the worry that this health crisis brings to us all, we are deeply concerned about the effect this will have on the theater community as a whole. Like many businesses and nonprofits, this past week we had some tough news to take and break - from season postponements and cancelled student programs to show closures including A.C.T.'s critically acclaimed Toni Stone, featuring our very own Rodney Earl Jackson Jr.

We have talked to our fellow artists across the country and we are intimately aware of the impact this will have on these talented actors, singers, dancers, technicians, and production professionals. They passionately live and breathe performing arts but are living paycheck to paycheck. We know it's going to be difficult for everyone. We also know that the financial consequences will no doubt prove challenging for a nonprofit of our size, but it makes us proud to say that SFBATCO isn't going anywhere anytime soon. We are a resilient force of artists that have been, and (we hope) continue to be, supported by the best community of people. So, thank you.

So, what is to come?

We believe that deep down, there is a rainbow on the other side. We're so inspired by all the artists out there who are bringing light and laughter during these trying times. It gives us hope that together we will weather this storm and come out on the other side stronger than ever.

To all of you out there creating,
KEEP GOING!

When we emerge from this, we cannot wait to see what you created while we were apart! In the meantime, we will be sharing our stories and talents online and want to see what you're up to via social media too. Follow us!

We are looking forward to bringing the joy of SFBATCO's live shows back to you and this great city when this crisis has passed (and it will, as long as we follow the public health guidelines to protect ourselves and our communities). They say some of the darkest times create some of the brightest sparks. We are possibly about to witness some of the best art we've seen in a while.

Until then, we wish you good health and hope to see you back at the theatre when we can get back onstage.
