Investing in Career Development Programs

At SFBATCO, we believe the magic of theatre doesn’t just happen overnight — it’s cultivated. It’s mentored. It’s shared. It’s sparked in rehearsal rooms, classrooms, and through intentional, sustained support.

We’re passionate about creating spaces where emerging arts workers and leaders can grow and step boldly into their potential. That’s why our career development programs aren’t side projects — they’re central to who we are.

Right now, we’re proud to be running three dynamic arts career development programs designed to open doors, build confidence, and foster long-term career sustainability in the field.

Our Stage Manager Training Program offers hands-on experience and mentorship for individuals ready to strengthen their behind-the-scenes skills, demystifying the essential roles and responsibilities of a professional stage manager.

The Creators Lab Program is a space for playwrights to experiment, take risks, and develop new work alongside peers and industry veterans. Rooted in collaboration and cohort support, it’s a playground for creative ideas and brave storytelling.

As arts professionals who came up through arts education ourselves, we’re especially excited to offer our Teaching Artist Apprenticeship — an in-classroom opportunity for theatre artists interested in bringing the joys of theatre into San Francisco classrooms.

Why do we lead programs like these? Because when we invest in people, we invest in possibility. We’re not just producing shows — we’re cultivating arts professionals, leaders, storytellers, and change-makers.
