2026 CREATORS LAB
The Creators Lab is SFBATCO's incubation space for the development of original theatrical works by emerging creatives. The Lab is a writing cohort and workshop series that will operate in a virtual/in-person hybrid model.
Led by Aidaa Peerzada, Playwright and SFBATCO’s Literary Manager & Education Coordinator, the Lab is focused on Emerging to Mid Career writers who have a new play in the making, which they are ready to take to the next stage of development. We’re thrilled to continue this program for a fifth year in a row!
This fall/winter program is a creative space for expanding concepts or first drafts into scripts ready for professional workshops or productions.
All participants will receive a $500 stipend for their participation. After the development process, participants will have an opportunity to present a staged performance or reading of their piece with actors at a public showcase.

2025 Creators Lab Participant testimonial
“The Creators Lab was such a fun and fulfilling experience! Not only in the ways that it got me out of my comfort zone as an artist — by presenting new techniques and perspectives, and by challenging me to find and nurture the most essential elements of my piece — but also in the sense of safety Aidaa created by leading with warmth and curiosity. It was a delight to create and to bond with my cohort, and to feel the embrace of an artistic community excited to foster exploration, challenge, and joy. Writing doesn’t have to be a solitary ritual of self-flagellation. It can be playful and connected and enlivening, and the Creators Lab is a space where you’re free to feel just that.”
