The Creators Lab is SFBATCO's incubation space for the development of original theatrical works by emerging creatives.
During the 4-week-long creative lab, a small cohort of artists will develop concepts or initial drafts of theatrical works, with the intention of completing their first 15-30 pages or their first performable 10-30 minutes of music or choreography. The Lab can also be a space to develop a second draft or build the continuation of a pre-existing work.
The Lab will operate in a virtual/in-person hybrid model with Wednesday evening meetings, consisting of creative prompts and sharing sessions, and Saturdays, consisting of in-person workshop sessions and sharing content among the cohort.
All participants will receive a $400 stipend for participation in The Creators Lab.
After the 4-week development process, participants will have an opportunity to present a staged performance or reading of their piece. The Creators Lab will meet on Wednesdays and Saturdays in June 2022 for 8 total sessions.
Led by Aidaa Peerzada, Playwright and SFBATCO’s Literary Manager.
