Rodney Earl Jackson Jr. (he/him) is the Artistic Director & Co-Founder of The San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Company (SFBATCO), now in its 10th year! He made his Broadway debut in “The Book of Mormon” the same summer he began the venture of SFBATCO. In his 34 years of life, he has been blessed to grace international stages, participate in workshop/development processes for major plays and pre-Broadway shows (such as Toni Stone and Ain’t Too Proud), and bring his artistic insights, creative experiences, and fresh ideas to his home theatre company: SFBATCO. A native of San Francisco, he cultivated his love and foundation for the performing arts, particularly theatre, through public city organizations such as SFartsEd, San Francisco Recreation & Park’s YPTMTC, and the Ruth Asawa SF School of the Arts, where he graduated from the theatre department. He proudly holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama, and he acknowledges the incredible support of the SFBATCO staff and board, who champion his vision and creative voice in the Bay Area. Additional theatre credits include Berkeley Repertory "Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations", SFBATCO's "I, Too, Sing America" & "Toni Stone" co-produced by Arena Stage and American Conservatory Theatre (ACT) where he is a proud member of the Board of Trustees.

Adam Maggio (he/him) is a producer, director, actor, and teacher originally from San Francisco who has served as the Managing Director of SFBATCO since 2021. His directing credits include The Sound of Music and Kinky Boots (2023 BATCC Nominee–Best Production, NB) at Throckmorton Theatre; Nick Payne's Constellations at Wings of Paper; and Mona Pirnot's Baseball, It Is at Mile Square Theatre. As an actor he has appeared Off-Broadway and in regional theatres around the country. Adam has taught at the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, Lowell High School, and with SFArtsED. Patricia (Pete) St. Peter (she/her) is thrilled to be reunited on stage with many of her talented friends and the entire crew of both SFartsED and BATCO. Starting young with SFAEP in 1999 she got the stage bug and did every show until 2009 when she joined YPTMTC and went to SFSOTA. She went on to study Classical vocal performance with a focus in Opera at UCLA. Lots ( and lots and lots) of shows, lots of memories, lots of magic! She now runs bar programs and consults on beverage design all over LA and dabbles in contemporary classical music.

Ariella Berkman (she/they/he) is thrilled to be back working with SFBATCO and SFartsED after growing up performing in their alumni camp shows and Players. A recent Boston Conservatory at Berklee BFA MT alum, educational credits include The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (Ensemble), Alice in Wonderland (Cheshire Cat), and Peter Pan (Slightly). Ariella is based in Chicago, and would like to thank her parents, friends, and her boyfriend for babysitting her cats while she’s back in SF. She hopes her cats won’t be too mad. Orion Harris Santiago (he/him) a San Francisco born musical artist, is excited to return to SFBATCO and SFArtsED family once again. He just finished his first year at the acclaimed Berklee College of Music, where he continues to refine his musical talents with his award winning professors and instructors. He enriches his artistic journey through collaborations with SFArtsED and SFBATCO in various shows. Orion's passion extends beyond the voice and theater, as an alumni of a competing hip-hop dance team APT, grabbing 2nd place at Body Rock Juniors 2024, he wishes to continue his passion for dance with various dance groups and showcases in Boston. With five years of guitar study and self taught in piano and percussion, He envisions a continued pursuit of musical mastery. Orion would like to thank his teachers from Oakland School for the Arts for believing in him throughout high school, and his entire family for supporting and allowing him to grow as an artist. Cassie Grilley (she/her) is an actor, improviser, and teaching artist born and raised in San Francisco and now based in Los Angeles. Cassie is ecstatic to be working with SFArtsed and SFBATCO. Cassie’s grandmother and YPTMTC founder, Diane Price, loved Into the Woods and Cassie cannot wait to do this show with a team she has known her entire life because of her grandmother. In SF, she performed in musicals, drag shows, new works, and theater for young audience shows. In LA, Cassie performs in shows at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, the World’s Greatest Improv School (WGIS), The Shared Experience and her narrative improv team Drunk Theatre. While she is not performing, she is calendaring and teaching social skills through Improv to people who are neurodiverse.

Markaila Dyson (she/they) is excited to be returning this summer for the collaboration between SFartsED and SFBATCO for this production of Into The Woods. Their most recent credits include Fly By Night (Miriam) with Hillbarn Theatre, Kinky Boots (Ensemble/US Lauren) with Berkeley Playhouse, Sign My Name to Freedom (dancer) with SFBATCO, as well as Caroline or Change (Emmie), Everybody’s Talking About Jamie (Becca) and Legally Blonde (Pilar) with Ray of Light. Markaila feels lucky to have worked with many great theater companies throughout the Bay. She is grateful to have been raised in the rich, vibrant art and culture of San Francisco and thanks every single person that invested in their artistry from a very young age!

Wes Lieberman (he/him) is thrilled to make his BATCO debut, as well as return to SFArtsEd, the organization that first taught him to love theater. Since graduating from UCLA’s theater department in June 2024, Wes has been involved in several staged readings, including On the Road to Zion with the Yiddish Theater Ensemble and Wolves of Winter with Theatre on the Verge. He also sang with The Holiday Carolers.

Praised by The Wall Street Journal for her ""ideal"" title role portrayal in La Calisto at The Glimmerglass Festival, Filipino-American soprano Emilie Kealani (she/her) will be making her house and role debut with Opera Philadelphia this fall as Corinna in Rossini's Il viaggio a Reims. Seen in the Soundbites column of OPERA NEWS and a returning guest to PBS WHYY programming, Emilie has also been featured in past productions with Staatsoper Stuttgart, The Santa Fe Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis & Curtis Opera Theatre. Striving to integrate the music of her culture with today's standards, Emilie is the founder of the Kapwa Passion Project.

Eric Cheung (he/him) is thrilled to be back with SFArtsED and SFBATCO. Eric is a NY-based actor most recently seen in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. He has worked regionally at Cleveland Play House and Asolo Rep. TV/Film includes Loser, Sonny Boy, and Dexter: Resurrection. Workshops include new plays with LaMama, Ma-Yi Theater Company, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, Tectonic Theater Project, The Public Theater and Manhattan Theatre Club.

Jamie Yuen-Shore is a proud founding company member of SFBATCO. Born and raised in San Francisco, she trained with the San Francisco Arts Education Project (SFArtsEd) and the Young People’s Teen Musical Theater Company (YPTMTC). She currently works with SFArtsEd as a choreographer and will return to Direct the Theater program at Jewish Community High School next year. She co-created and directed I, Too, Sing America in 2018 and directed I, Too, Sing America with SFArtsEd and SFBATCO in 2023. She is so honored to be working with her two artistic homes and families once again.
Othello Jefferson

Othello Jefferson is a native of San Francisco. He received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Voice from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a single subject music credential from San Francisco State University. At Sequoia High School, in Redwood City, CA, he serves as Piano Instructor, Chorus and Orchestra Director. He also serves as Minister of Music at First African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in San Francisco. He is the recipient of awards from San Francisco’s Academy of Gospel and the Friends of Negro Spirituals, Oakland and has completed the first level of the American Guild of Organist’s examinations for professional certification (Service Playing Certificate). He is also the featured singer on the African American Composers Initiative‘s (AACI) recent CD entitled Good News.

Noah Bossert is excited to join the creative team of this production with SFBATCO. As an educator, Noah is the Musical Director for the SFArtsED Players, and music faculty at San Francisco University High School. As an active Musical Director, he works with the local theaters SFBATCO (I, Too, Sing America), 142 Throckmorton Theater, as well as theater-creators, bring Bay Area work to international audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Sex, Camp, and Rock ‘n Roll). Current projects include the band Ruby Day & The Knights, coming to the Bay in Sept. of ‘25, and Nitschke, set to be released Oct. ‘25.

Erin Gentry is a director, choreographer, and performer throughout the Bay Area. She has directed musicals for Bay Area Children’s Theater Company, Jewish Community High School, Ruth Asawa School of The Arts High School, Sacred Heart High School, and Throckmorton Theater Company. Erin has worked as an artist-in-residence for the San Francisco Arts Education Project for the past 15 years, in programs such as Broadway Bound Summer Camp, in school residencies, and the SFArtsEd Players.
Kathryn Aarons

Kathryn Aarons is a performer, choreographer, and teaching artist. This is her third summer with SFArtsED’s Broadway Bound program and she choreographed Shrek this past spring. She grew up taking dance classes in the Peninsula and earned her BA in Musical Theatre from California State University, Chico. Kathryn is an Equity actress and has performed in productions across the country, and was lucky to serve as Dance Captain on a handful of them. She’s choreographed at various Bay Area high schools (Kehillah, UHS, Aragon, & SMHS) and taught dance at AAD & Zohar. A huge thanks to everyone at SFArtsEd & SFBATCO for making this production truly magical!

laura elaine ellis has enjoyed being on the creative teams for SFArtsED/ SFBATCO’s Ragtime (2017), West Side Story (2019), I, Too, Sing America: Next Gen (2023) and SFBATCO’s Sign My Name to Freedom (2021/2024). She has choreographed numerous productions for CSU East Bay’s Theatre & Dance Dept. (1994 – present), including co-direction/choreography for A Chorus Line (2002), garnering critical praise and catalyzing CSUEB’s Musical Theater program. She has staged productions for Open Opera, Festival Opera, George Coates Performance Group, Douglass Morrison Theater, Theatre Rhinoceros, Shotgun Players, and currently, A.C.T.’s teen program. - Into the Woods has been a JOYFUL journey!
Henry Shin

Henry Shin is a dynamic conductor known for his charisma, leadership, and versatility. He currently serves as Director of Orchestras at Pasadena City College and Music Director of the Glendale Youth Orchestra. A dedicated advocate for youth music education, he has led ensembles for the Harmony Project, Valley Philharmonic, and Crossroads School. He also served as Music Director of the San Francisco Arts Education Project’s Event Players, conducting acclaimed productions of Carousel, Guys and Dolls, and Oklahoma!. A prizewinner in Besançon, France, Mr. Shin will begin as Music Director of the newly-formed San Gabriel Valley Symphony this summer.

Tiersa Nureyev is a multidisciplinary artist and designer. Textile and fiber based mediums are principal elements in the majority of her work. Tiersa costumes for film, theater, and dance, is a teaching artist with the San Francisco Arts Education Project and is currently producing Soft Spaces For Hard Times: A Community Quilting Project funded by the SF Arts Commission. This project engages San Francisco youth in the creation of an ambitious, super-sized textile collage, and will culminate September of 2025 in an immersive installation with accompanying, hands-on workshops.

A full-time singer/pianist in San Francisco for over 40 years, Tom has been with SFArtsED since 2007. With or without his versatile jazz trio - Tom Shaw Trio - Tom can often be seen entertaining at private events or accompanying singers, cabaret performances and musical theatre productions at venues such as Feinstein’s, Martuni’s, Oasis and more. Since 2014, Tom has performed in the holiday production of The Golden Girls: LIVE which appears annually at San Francisco’s Curran Theatre. On social media, he is also known as “Moose” of Toasters ‘N’ Moose, the singing duo made famous from their viral Internet hit, “Taste the Biscuit”.
Pete Belkin

Pete Belkin is a visual artist, digital media engineer and exhibitions producer. Pete has worked with numerous museums and nonprofit arts institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area and internationally and can often be found interviewing artists, producing public programs, or curating exhibitions. Previously, Pete worked with KADIST Art Foundation, Oakland Museum of California, and Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive. He holds an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute and a BFA from California College of the Arts. His studio practice is rooted in investigations of natural phenomena, typically taking form in painting, sculpture and video installation. Pete joined the SFArtsED staff in 2020 and serves as Curatorial Associate and Digital Media Producer.

April Ballesteros is an actor, director, educator, and stage manager. She is the Associate Artistic Director of Theatre Cultura and worked in the Artistic Learning Department at the California Shakespeare Theater for 7 years. She has worked with SF Playhouse, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, SF Shakes, Berkeley Rep, and Shotgun Players, to name a few. She earned a BA in Theatre Arts from California State University, East Bay, and hails from East Los Angeles. With every project she does, she hopes to empower and uplift BIPOC voices and stories.

Kayla LC Yee (she/her) is super excited to be involved in this production of Into the Woods! A Posse Scholar from San Francisco, Kayla is studying Management & Marketing at Lehigh University. At Lehigh, she played Wolf in Wolf Play, and Cecilia in Fefu and Her Friends. Other credits include Mamma Mia, The Prom, and SFBATCO & SFArtsEd's I, Too, Sing America: The Next Gen. Outside of performing, Kayla serves as the Assistant Marketing Director for Lehigh’s Department of Theatre.

How do I get to the Blue Shield of California Theater at YBCA?
The theater is located at 700 Howard St, San Francisco, CA 94103, inside the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. It’s easily accessible by public transit:
BART: Exit at Powell or Montgomery station and walk 5–10 minutes.
MUNI: Several lines stop nearby, including the F-Market, 30, and 45.
Where can I park?
If you are driving, we recommend parking at the Fifth and Mission Parking Garage, located at 833 Mission St (Between 4th St & 5th St)
Street parking is limited—public transit or rideshare is recommended when possible.
What’s the difference between the Preview and the Premiere performance?
Friday, July 25 – Preview Night: The first full run-through in the theater with cast and the full 15-piece orchestra. This final dress rehearsal-style performance includes all production elements and offers a more affordable night out.
Saturday, July 26 – Premiere Night: The full, polished show with added fanfare. Includes an optional VIP Soirée with drinks, light bites, and opportunities to meet some of the artists before the show.
I purchase a VIP ticket. Where and when is the pre-show VIP reception?
The VIP reception will take place at the Blue Shield of California Theater at YBCA, on Saturday July 26 at 5:30pm. Enter the theater at the entrance at 700 Howard Street and then take the elevator or the stairs to the second floor. Lights bites and wine and beer will be served.
How long is the show?
